The SLA holiday banquet & toy drive is approaching. This is an event organized with the purpose to benefit the homeless children living at the Salvation Army. A donation of a toy for children ranging ages of 1-16 is needed by each student in order to get into the entertainment area, and buffet meal. At the entertainment area, there will be an amazing Battle of the DJs, and of course, dancing will take place as well.
This will happen on December 3, 2008, from 11:00 pm - 14:00 pm. It will be a big and exciting day for HCC Central students, see you there!
This Friday November 21, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at HCC Central Campus- the 2008 formal induction ceremony of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society will take place. Jesús Terrones, a Harvard '08 Graduate will be the guest speaker for this event. PTK inductees and their families are invited, as well as anyone who would like to attend and listen to Mr. Terrones speak about the steps he had take in order to get into Harvard, and how he wants to contribute to the community these days. See you there!
This Friday, November 14, The United Student Council will be having a meeting at 10 am, room 101 LHSB. The purpose of the USC is to enhance student life on campus by representing the students interests at a district, local, and national level. Therefore, if you want to make your voice heard and express your interests as a student, don't let this opportunity pass you by.
If you are planning in dropping a class, you might want to do it before next Thursday, November 13th. Dropped classess after that date will get F's instead of W's. So hurry up!
Yesterday, Thursday 6th, it was a historic day for HCC. The new Learning Hub was officially innaugurated. A ceremony took place in which speeches were given by Dr. William Harmon President of HCC Central Dr. Harmon, members of the Board of Trustees, and the President of SGA Charles Lingerfelt; later the ribbon cutting took place, and finally delicious food was offered. 83.48% voted for Barack Obama
13.87% voted for John McCain
2.64% voted for Bob Barr
For Senators:
83.17% voted for the Democratic Party
12.21% voted for the Republican Party
4.6% voted for the Libertarian Party
Today HCC Central students got the chance to vote for their favorite candidate in the 2008 Mock Presidential Election. The following form was given and these are some of the students that voted:
15 students are required to guide people around the new building on the day of its Grand Oppening. If you want participate you should attent the meeting on Monday, Nov 3, at either 106 or 101 in the new learning hub.
